In 2003, Kanlungan Centre Foundation, Inc. started its LED project in Naguilian, La Union, to help build the local economy of the municipality as an alternative to overseas employment. The LED project is continuing and expanding, with the help of the local government, micro-finance institutions, government line agencies, and enterprising migrant workers and their families.

Activities include: organizing OFW families, educating them on how to productively utilize savings and remittances, how to engage from traditional to non-traditional income-generating projects and establishment of enterprises that meet food security and are environment- friendly and sustainable.

The LED Project includes:

  1. Organizing OFWs and their families;
  2. Educating them on how to productively utilize their remittances and savings and converting these into small business;
  3. Engaging them in traditional and non-traditional income generating projects that meet their food security need, are environment-friendly, and sustainable.
